Hi I have P III with 1. 13A cpu with 256 MB ram, but know i want to increase one more 256 mb ram into it but when i add 256mb ram into it the systems starts but after an hour or so it gets hangs up and i have to restart the machine as i use Autocad and WinXp for that reason i want to increase the memory.

What else will be the reason for the system is hanging?

As DosFreak points out, it could be one of the three things he suggests. It may also be a question of heat. After you run the memory test and make sure that your bios is the latest and it still does what it does, just remove a panel from the computer to allow more air to circulate. If it keeps running after an hour, you may need a few extra fans.
