I work for a large company and right now we are implementing 2000 on all our new pcs. Our standard laptop is:
Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 series
Celeron or PIII (400-600, depending on user)
6-10 gig drive
Xircom Realport NIC(nic only, not combo card)
We use TCP/IP on our network (using DHCP)
Basically I have only had this problem a couple times, but our users have just started complaining that when they boot up their laptop it locks before the logon screen. Usually a reboot fixes this (sometimes they have to pull the network cable out first). I don't know if this is an issue, i am using the newest drivers from xircom. One thing that i noticed is the card shows up as Xircom 10/100 #3 in device manager and in the event viewer logs (eg. xircom #3 succesfully got an ip). If I remove the device and install it again it shows as Xircom #4. Any ideas why or if that could be the trouble?
We use ghost and sysprep as well to roll out the laptops. I'm stumped for ideas, and anything would be nice! Thanks guys.
