Red Alert

This is a discussion about Red Alert in the Windows Games category; I can't get Red Alert to work in XP. I followed the advice on the site to use the DOS installation but that wont work either (not that it should). Anyone got any ideas? I can't beleive Westwood haven't done an XP Patch! This game is a legend!.

They don't have an XP patch because they want you to buy Red Alert 2. I was able to install it fine using the Windows Install. You have to install the expansion games, though. Installing just the original won't work.

OP
Well I don't have the expansions and at the end of the day Red Alert isn't Red Alert 2 like Dune 2000 is Dune II.

Ahh, that's the problem then. You can pick up the entire Demolition Pack for about $9 these days. Check the bargain bins. And Westwood has re-released it in a bargain pack.

You have to use compatibility mode to run the install program. Once installed D/L the latest patch (I think it is 1.009) and apply it. After that it should work fine. If you have any other problems I would go post on the PlanetCNC forums (www.planetcnc.com).
