I currently use and operate on Windows XP but I want to reformat my 40 GB HD to clean out the drive and reinstall Windows XP and such. I have done this with previous OS's.

My problem is that I can't get the format c: command to work in MS-DOS mode, nor get a restore floppy disk that helps me do that in DOS mode before start up. Any ideas on how I can re-format my HD right now? (My HD is still FAT32.) Any replies would be great, thanks in advance!

Maybe you already thought about this simple one: just boot on your XP cd and, when prompted, delete the partition and ask XP to create a brand new partition with fast format (NTFS of course).
Isn't it simple ? Hope it helps you !

since you are still fat32,
does the win98bootdisk scenario work?
just boot with the disk then format then insert the winXP cd and boot from that to install from fresh?

i havn't done that yet,
but will it work?
anyone?
