Reformatting to factory settings

I believe this machine has a hard drive compartment as I do not have a Windows XP disc withit. Could someone please give me an idiots guide on how I would reformat this laptop back to factory setings.

compaq laptop has a special hidden partition where windows installation files stored, but to access it you will need a disk which is came with the laptop. i think without this disk you won't be able to restore you comp to factory settings/
When the bios screen appears push F11. This method works on the newer HP/Compaq laptops newer = 2years old or less.
