Does somebody know something about this error message :
STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writeable.
I had it and I can't do anything (safe mode boot don't work)...
I have:
win2k (/w all the patches including SP2)
Thunderbird 1333
MB Gigabyte GA-7VTX
Maxtor 40G ATA-100
256MB Ram 266
etc...
I know this is an old problem from NT3.51,4 and 2000

Well, I reinstall and I reintall all the patch for windows 2000 (including SP2 and Directx 8a) and everything is OK for the moment. I did like 20 reboot and it seems ok.
In my research for this problem, I suspect all these things:
1. Installation of SP2
2. Installation of the patch for AMD Processor (.reg)
3. Using ATA-100 in Win 2k
4. Maybe directx 8 but it work for me
5. it's really a registry corruption and it just a bad luck...
I cross my finger for the moment...
