Removing a mirror from a Dynamic disk

Hi I'd be grateful for any advice I can get. . . The situation is I have one drive from a mirror the other is totally lost. I attach this drive to a different system and when I import this disk using MMC it lists it as failed(active) and underneath another new block appears which says Missing.

I am led to believe..... I need to click "missing" and then click "remove mirror" which should reactivate the dynamic disk(retaining any data..) and so access it using my system as usual.
Have I got this right as there files I would hate to lose just for the sake of asking. My feelings are everything should be ok but would like some re-assurance
Thanks

OP
Thanks for the quick/great response.
I have been following MS but that second link looks very promising.
You're right it is quite a specific problem and will have been come accross before by others. ...It is just to access the dynamic disk not to rebuild the mirror and just a should I or shouldn't I type of thing.

Thanks..
Made at home already.
