Running Windows 3.1 in DosBox

Hey guys. I hope this is the right place for this cause this is my first time posting. I'm trying to play an old game (Betrayal in Antara) and I found an old post where it was said that the game runs well under win 3.

Hey guys. I hope this is the right place for this cause this is my first time posting.

I'm trying to play an old game (Betrayal in Antara) and I found an old post where it was said that the game runs well under win 3.x in dosbox so I have installed Windows 3.1 in DosBox but whenever i start it up i get the following error messages -

Cannot open program-group file 'C:\WINDOWS\MAIN.GRP'
Do you want program Manager to try to load it in the future?

Cannot open program-group file 'C:\WINDOWS\STARTUP.GRP'
Do you want program Manager to try to load it in the future?

Cannot open program-group file 'C:\WINDOWS\ACCESSOR.GRP'
Do you want program Manager to try to load it in the future?

Cannot open program-group file 'C:\WINDOWS\GAMES.GRP'
Do you want program Manager to try to load it in the future?

As a result, when windows opens up there are no icons that appear on the screen which is going to make it difficult to install my game, and install drivers.

Any help would be very much appreciated

How did you mount the C:\ drive in DOSBox?

Windows needs to be in C:\Windows so you need to mount a "C:\"

So on your host computer you'd have directory "C:\DOS\Windows". In DOSBox you'd do a "Mount c c:\DOS".

i've done all this but I don't know how to make windows point to the cd drive since the c: drive is mounted in dosbox and i cant figure out how to get into the e: drive through windows 3.1, I tried copying all the files into the install directory in the windows folder but that didnt seem to work.

You mount your drives from the command line and then launch Windows.

Then you navigate to the cdrom drive using Program Manager.

Thats what I was doing, but the drives don't show up all I have is a,c and Z:dosbox, but I think I got past that problem anyway, now when I go to run betrayal in antara it starts to load and then it exits the game and dosbox, I tried switching the cpu core to normal but then got this error Win 32s - Error
Initialization of a dynamic link library failed.
The process is terminating abnormally.
I tried all the other core settings and reinstalling win 32s, nothing works...

ok, I got the cd drive thing to work, I was trying to mount it like you mount a regular hard drive folder(I've been using dosbox for years but never needed to mount a cd drive)anyway I am still getting that win32s error, one time I was able to get a little farther but the game tried to open, froze and then closed eventually. please help.
