SCSI to IDE Lagtime

There is a certain problem i get when copying files over from my SCSI drive to my ata/66 drive. It seems to copy in bursts. By this i mean, it will copy a little bit, the system will pause for second (in which case i cannot do anything), then it will continue coppying.

What is going on? It is pissing me off.

I also notice this doesnt happen the other way around...ie from IDE to SCSI. Strange, I'd say.
