Services in W2K

Hi there, I was just wondering what services can safely be shut down assuming I am a home user with a dial up internet connection. I was particularly thinking of Plug N Play service, can I shut this down between hardware changes? There was an error processing this directive.

Off the top of my head, you can kill....
Alerter
Messenger
TCP/IP netbios helper
Browser (Required for LAN)
Workstation (Required for LAN)
 
Anything else you'll have to do some reading.

Thanks, I think I have most of them dead at the mo, I'm just wary of going near anything named TCP/IP cause I canna do without the net.
