shared folders?
This is a discussion about shared folders? in the Windows Hardware category; is there any way to connect two windows xp's computers? I've tried to share a folder in one of theme and conncet to this folder from the other computer with workgroup_name\user_name and with user_name@workgroup_name and it's not working! it says that the password or user name are not accepted.

in windows 2000 I had no problem doing this.
any ideas?
BTW, I'm getting reply with ping between them and remote desktop is working perfectly.

I was having this problem also. Here is what i did to fix it:
Slap in your cd or run setup.exe from your install folder or share and chose install additional components. Then select all the ones that have something to do with networking and install em. That should work it did for me. I am not quit sure why it would not do file sharing without this you really would think that it would. I did notice that the sared items folder will work without this. Perhaps MS doesn't want unknowledgable people making network shares. Or maybe it is a ploy to make sure that u get a copy of server for your network also.
