Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick; can't install Windows XP

This is a discussion about Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick; can't install Windows XP in the Windows Hardware category; I have the above joy stick that used to work fine for my W98SE. It doesn't seem to load up in WXP. My CD is Sidewinder version 3. 0. I see at MS they have a version 3. 02 that is associated with W95 and W98 but isn't obvious if different from mine or works with XP.

Bottom line; can I use my joystick (like for Microsoft Flight Simulator) or not with W XP??

USB. It didn't occur to me to just plug it in. I assumed it needed the software to help set up the joystick. Needed a Driver or something???

No, XP comes with built-in drivers for all of their joysticks and controllers.
I thought, from your original post, that you'd plugged it in but it wasn't working!

Well that's exactly what you do with USB MS peripherals, you just plug them in.
I wouldn't advise you to install that 2 years old software, especially that every game nowadays support in-game button assignment.

Well, it works just fine now. I guess this is one plus for XP..........now if anyone knows how to really control "100% CPU" and slow computers that would be great.........I don't recall W98SE suffering from this.
