Windows XP has DirectX 8.1 installed by default. Windows XP Service PAck 2 includes DirectX 9.0c. So, use Windows update to install latest service pack and patches.

This is not my forte, but maybe we can spark some answers.
Do you have the latest DirectX installed, as per peterh's suggestion?
What about the latest drivers for the video card?
If you do not know, look under the System tab of the dxdiag window and see what version is installed.
Also, it may be helpful if you post what make and model system that you have.

i feel like an idiot. i was trying to install some more sims2 games into a blank computer that we use for the sims.and then it said that the memory was full so i decided to delete some things that looked unsim related and ended up deleting directx9.0 so now nobody can play the sims2 anymore!! i cant reinstall it because of no internet. and everybody here loves that game and they're all gonna hate me!w/out directx9.0 we cant play sims2, wat do i do!
Quote:i did that but then the direcetx features box said they were all unavailable
What exactly did you do? That information will help folks to assist.
Does your computer meet the system requirements for Sims2?
Asssuming Windows XP:
What video card is in the system and did you update to the latest drivers?
Is Service pack 2 installed on the system?
Most likely if all the options said that they were not available, then your video card is not adequate, or the drivers to support DirectX are not installed.
Is this a laptop or desktop system?

Hello,
I have installed DriverX9c but still the sims will not load completely. In the system information it states that:
Installed Drivers ialmrnt5.dll
Driver Version 6.13.01.3485
So im guessing that DriverX9C is not default driver or isnt supported, how do i fix this?

I'm having the same problem too. I used to play Sims 2 on my computer, but my computer got cluttered and wouldn't work for quite a while and I ended up getting a laptop and not playing Sims 2 for a long time. After a year, I went back to my computer and spent hours deleting unwanted programs from my computer and now it works just fine. I ended up uninstalling Sims 2 and something else that was crucial to Sims 2. I went back to install Sims 2 and it installed just fine. When I tried to run the program, it showed the DirectX 9.0c needed to be installed. So, I went online and installed it dozens of times and it still won't work. I know my computer is capable of playing this game, seeing as how I used to play it all the time on. I just need to know what's going wrong.
BTW, here's my computer stats....
