Sims2 failure

This is a discussion about Sims2 failure in the Windows Games category; I just bought the Sims2. I installed DirectX 9. 0c but when I try to play the game I get the message Failed to find any DirectX 9. 0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.

I just bought the Sims2. I installed DirectX 9.0c but when I try to play the game I get the message "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer." I'm not really sure what this means or what i need to buy or download, any help would be greatly apprecieted

It means that your graphics card is too old or too slow for DirectX 9 type feature. Typical cards are SIS, S3 and Intel Extreme Graphics.

You will have to play Sims in Window rather than Full Screen mode or replace card with an faster AGP Graphics Card.

Is your graphics card (See dxdiag.exe to see what you have) listed on the compatible card list?
