SMTP Service wont' start at Boot

This is a discussion about SMTP Service wont' start at Boot in the Customization Tweaking category; I use Windows 2000 Server. I use the built in IIS SMTP server. But it always fails to load at startup. But then i can go manually start it fine once i log in. any suggestions??.

just to point out the obvious (someone's got to ), is the service set to automatic?
 
You might also check the event log for any clues

Yes it IS set to Automatic.
 
the event log tells me there are some files missing...on E:\iissamples 2k is on C: so i dont' get why it looks on E....
