Sound Blaster Live! & Games
I'm new at Win2K & I say it rocks. My only problem is EAX in games. For some reason games sound weird in Win2K, in WinME I could hear the voices in the game Alice & when I shot the shock rifle in Unreal Tournament.

For some reason games sound weird in Win2K, in WinME I could hear the voices in the game "Alice" & when I shot the shock rifle in "Unreal Tournament". Now in Win2K it's the oposite, now the voices (talking) in "Alice" are real quite yet the background sounds are loud, & in "Unreal Tournament" the shock rifle effects are quite, as are my jumping grunts & etc, but when it comes to my rocket launcher it's loud!! Complete oposite as before.
I'm using the lastest LiveWare & drivers, the only thing that is different I believe is how I have my speakers setup under properties. In WinME I had it setup as "Surround Sound" (using FPS1000 speakers), however in Win2K when I select "Surround Sound" it always goes to "Quadraphonic". Know what the problem is?

I find that the volume in W2K over WinMe is louder by default. I have all the volumes cranked with my SBLive in WinMe with the master volume half way up the scale just to have a decent volume. In W2K, I had all sliders half way up and just touching the master volume caused the volume to crank.
I think its the drivers personally. I could be wrong, but if you want the sounds corrected, I think you need to adjust music and/or sfx volume within the game to find that sweet spot again.

I have absolutely no idea why it works, but it greatly improved both my sound quality and the performance in games (by a HUGE margin). I reduced the hardware acceleration for audio from "Full" to the second-lowest setting.
I have an AMD 900mHz, 256mb RAM, SBLive, Geforce2, Win2kPro, etc...
If anyone has any explanations as to why this works, I'd be interested in finding out. Suffice to say that I've never had any audio problems since I did this.
