This is a discussion about sp2 then upgrade to ie 5.5 in the Windows Software category; i'm not sure if its just me but after a fresh install of win2k, installing sp2 then upgrading to ie 5. 5 when i goto about in ie it says updates:;sp1; and it did say updates:;sp2; before i just at ie 5.

and it did say updates:;sp2; before i just at ie 5.0, i guess its no biggy as long as ie still works

That's because you were running IE5.0 SP2 but are now running IE5.5 SP1. It has nothing at all to do with your Windows Service Pack.
5.5 has only a sp1
5.01 (i think) had 2 service packs this is where you are getting confused.
they are 2 different versions.
