One place is in the control panel-
Control Panel->Admin. Tools->Services
Youll find things that are memory resident, such as norton auto-protect and what not.

One way to do it is to install the version of msconfig from Win ME. Simply copy it to the winnt directory of your Win 2K machine and reboot. It works perfectly under Win 2K Professional.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that both the SETI startup and the Office startup files both live in the Startup area of the start button.
Delete the shortcuts from \Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Saves all the nasty mess with the registry 8)
