And I haven't been able to find a website for this game - the official EA sports page only has a lik to superbike 2000

well I don't know what to tell you, I mean the game runs fine in win2k/whistler/9x all on my machine, don't ask how or why, it just does
 
but maybe make sure that you have the latest video card drivers and BIOS, etc. Make sure all patches are downloaded. And even if you have to or want to, install the latest DX8 beta.

Well (i hope i dont get shot for saying this)
If your using the ***** Version (sorry,wash my mouth out with soap and water)
then i had the same probs even in win 98 it would crash out so i whent into the folder where i installed the game, looked for the MILES folder the deleted the FULL contents of this folder but make sure you keep the folder there.
 
now try it
It will will work like a dream or YOUR money back

MAC when I saw your post, I thought finally I'm going to play this f'ing game.
 
Uninstalled and cleaned the registry. Re-installed the game, did exactly what you said. Still get the "EA Sports Its So Lame" deal and BAM its back to the desktop.
 
Curses.....foiled again.
