System Icons
This is a discussion about System Icons in the Windows Software category; Whenever I restart my system the icons are never being the same before. Sometimes all the icons in the desktop looks like Adobe sometimes like winzip. I use Tweakui to repair the icons. I would like to know the real reason behind this problem.

I have heard from many people that TweakUI can cause icon problems. In fact, I couldn't use it many times due to that problem. Maybe your icons are getting messed up due to the fact that you have TweakUI installed in the first place...

Hi,
I have seen this problem on varying flavours of Windows. The icon fix in tweak can be problematic and is really a last resort. You may have a problem with the ShellIconCache file. If this is the case there are a couple of things to try:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q132668
This is what Microsoft suggest. If you're not comfortable with editing your registry download x-teq from http://www.xteq.com/
Install and run it and go to
Appearance\Interface\Icons\Icon Cache Clear, press the button and Apply the changes.
Hope this helps.
