okay here is my setup
2 win2k machines sharing the internet thru a router, both filesharing. i also have netbui installed on both. DHCP are enabled on both.

in the wins section there is setting

Enable netbios over tcp/ip
Disable netbios over tcp/ip
Enable netbios from the DCHP server

do i disable this?

i remeber when i was on win98se, i followed the www.grc.com instructions to disable netbios by binding filesharing on netbui and disabling it on the TCP/IP.

so in the win2k setup, do i disable it too?

and should i have netbui installed on win2k?

Do you have a DHCP server? If so, what is it (the router, an NT Server on the network, etc)? This will determine the NetBIOS over whatever setting. If it is an NT/2K server that is hosting DHCP, then set it to "use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server". If it is the router or some other system, then use "enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP".

As far as NetBEUI, I would not have that installed. There is no real need for it as long as you are using TCP/IP with NetBIOS enabled.

If you are using a router with NAT on your network, then I wouldn't be entirely concerned with it.
