Telstra Next G modem required for Linux

This is a discussion about Telstra Next G modem required for Linux in the Windows Hardware category; At my rural residence I can only connect to internet by dial up or the nextG broadband service. I have a Bigpond external USB modem which has drivers for Windows XP but I have wasted too much time trying to get it to work with Linux.

At my rural residence I can only connect to internet by dial up or the nextG broadband service. I have a Bigpond external USB modem which has drivers for Windows XP but I have wasted too much time trying to get it to work with Linux. There are Sierra drivers available which others have been able to hack to work but try as I might I haven't been able to replicate.
Does anyone know of a modem I can purchase which will work "out of the box" in Linux on Teltras (Australia) next G network?
