looking at some recent benchs between the fx 5950 ultra and 9800XT - the ultra is up there for sure! and wins in some tests
EXCEPT when of course, as always - u start to turn on AA and FSAA - then ati just leaves nvidia in the dust.

Wait for whatever cards comes out AFTER Doom3 ships....the Radeon 9800 and 9700 line should be able to run Doom3 with most details on....as will the Geforce FX 5900 line. I don't think the GFFX 5700 and Radeon 9500/9600 line will be able to do so without some details lowered.
But the new...R420 should be great as will whatever Nvidia card is next too.
