I can't seem to open that file, it says access is denied. I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking of reformatting, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Make sure that you have administrative rights to your machine. If you do and you are still having problems, try to copy the file and open the copy.

do you have any DirectX installed on your computer? if yes then do the following:
go to start > run > dxdiag > DirectX Files, and see if there are any problems in the notes section below. You can also go into the Display tab and test Direct3D.
