Turn in a client, win a prize from MS...

For those who haven't heard, MS is offering prizes to system builders that rat-out clients who order systems without an OS. Check it: Ahhh. . . Gotta love MS. . . .

Does MS want another lawsuit? How about the other companies?
Is MS really trying to take over the world?

Ha! I build my own pc's for myself. Is it just me, or does it seem that MS has a sick demand for a deathwish? XP activation crap and that whole deal, lack of SP2 final version for Win2k, and now this? WTF is MS doing? Besides working on world domination...

Yeah read that on Activewin a while ago. Who is really surprised though?

I'm sorry Frank, but with this attitude how can you argue for anti-piracy ? Especially with Microsoft products anyway.

Who knows, soon when someone makes a comment and the word 'Microsoft' and 'piracy' or 'burn' in the same sentence. A bot will detect the comment and send the details or at least the IP of the person back to a database. Who knows. Meta-tags will be the end of privacy.

They already do it in library's in the US.

Im not saying that piracy should happen, but when you purchase a pc, you should have a say on what OS you use. MS should not be told of this, because of the possiblity that it could use it for evil. Microsoft does not have the right to tell the end user what OS or any other software it has on it. Microsoft does not like it, and I dont care if the manufacturer tells MS that some users are selecting to not have a preinstalled OS, thats fine. I dont think any good can come of pc manufacturer's getting paid to rat anyone out. I dont think MS is allowed to have that sort of information about the end user of a pc. That is a transaction between the user and the pc maker, and although the MS OS may be used in the pc, that doesnt mean it has to be used either.
Piracy is bad, but this has nothing to do with piracy. If someone wants to buy an OS for themselves where they live, they are entitled to do so, and there is nothing MS can say or do to stop this. MS seems to have some motives in the way of monopolizing the market, and so far they have been unsuccessful, so hey, why not resort to low tactics?
