Ultra DMA

This is a discussion about Ultra DMA in the Windows Hardware category; In device manager, my HDD is said to be in Ultra DMA mode 3 and my CD Rom is in Ultra DMA mode 1. These are both 1 UDMA mode below what they should be. Any ideas??.

The CD is fine since you have a 40x.
As for the Maxtor 7200 ATA133 I know ATA100 is UDMA Mode 5 so I am guessing it should be either mode 5 or mode 6. I have an ATA66 drive and it is Ultra DMA mode 4.

OP
It should be UDMA mode 4 the HDD because the controller is only ATA66. AS for the CDRom, it shows as UDMA 33 in the BIOS. I'll try the new VIA drivers.

I'll more than Likely buy a new controller card in the near future.
