I get the same problem.
 
I'm not quite sure what to make of it, but I think it may be related to the fact that I have an SBLive card - may be ****ing with the transfer, corrupting files.
 
I don't know, in all honesty, but I am going to try this later today/tomorrow.

Don't forget to supply the correct driver during installation when you use ATA100 or so. I have a SBLive card as well, it works well under XP.

In my opinion SB Live is just fine in 2k,XP unless you install the LiveWare package-Live owner here
Cflooren maybe has a point,in case you got a Promise controller.Also many "stop" errors happen due to "bad hardware",especialy RAM,so check this out too.
