Unreal Tournament in Win2k
I was just wondering if anybody else was having a problem like the one I am having with Unreal Tournament in Win2k. It seems to lock up periodically while in game play, sometimes shortly after I started playing, and sometimes after several matches.
I was just wondering if anybody else was having a problem like the one I am having with Unreal Tournament in Win2k. It seems to lock up periodically while in game play, sometimes shortly after I started playing, and sometimes after several matches. I am on a fresh install of Win2k with service pack 2. All my other games seem to work fine. my system is:
p3 850@1000
elsa geforce 2 ultra (with 12.40 detanators)
384meg of ram
soundblaster live!
on an Asus P2b-f
I have the latest drivers for everything, I recently upgraded to the 12.40 detanators, but had the same problem with the 12.00's.
thank you for any help

What video mode are you playing in ? If direct 3D try running open GL and see if you're problems persist
I'm in 1024x768 32bit D3D
I have tried opengl with the same results

I must reinstall Win2000 then... My attempts were with older nvidia-drivers and SP1, which always resulted in coredumps over nv4disp.dll. However, Hangups resulted in this game under Win98SE, when it was not Unreal Tournament 4.36, but older. Hangups during gameplay generally over here result in either sound card eating up too many resources, or access to dvd-rom-drive during gameplay (those drives require ultra dma-mode, always a source for surprises in conjunction with atapi devices - just attach plextor burner 1210a and toshiba dvdrom 1502 both at the secondary ide of an asus p3b-f mainboard - all data read from toshiba arrives shreddered on harddisk).
I've had problems running the manufacturer's doctored drivers so I just use the nVidia reference drivers. I've had the best luck with the 10.80 Detonator drivers.
