I have a system that has 2 physical disks as follows:-
disk_0 C:drive
disk_1 D:drive

The first primary partition on disk_1 has always been left empty in case disk_0 failed and I needed to reinstall the OS.

disk_0 has failed.

I have a known to be good (prior to the failure) full backup of disk_0 partition_1 C:drive. I have restored this backup to the empty disk_1 partition_1 D:drive.

On disk_1 partition_1 D:drive I have changed the boot.ini file to read "multi(0) disk(0) rdisk(1) partition(1)" to enable the OS from disk_1 to be loaded.

When rebooting I press F11 to get to the Boot Sequence Menu and select disk_1 as the first boot item.

The system refuses to boot from the Windows installation on disk_1 and therefore goes to the next valid boot item which is disk_0 (which is the failed disk).

What do I still need to do to get the system to boot from disk_1? I would have assumed that a restore of a full backup of a known good configuration would restore without any issues except for the change to the boot.ini file
