Urgent help needed!

fter running, it said that the display adapter had failed to be installed properly but the other had worked fine.
I rebooted as told but then I get a blue screen telling me there is a problem with a device.
I can get all the text if required but the jist of this is, I can't get into 2K, all the options in the F8 menu lead to the same blue screen, safe-mode included.
What can I do?
Is a repaired installation my only option and what will I lose if I do this?
TIA

disconnect the mouse.
I am posting this from 2K, I managed to get in before I read this.
Indeed, the file in question is related to my mouse, I discovered this when I booted into 98 and looked at the properties of the file in question.
I deleted the file and I could boot into 2K but without a pointer.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the mouse drivers and the problem came back.
So at the moment I have 2K that has no advanced mouse features.
Why would this suddenly happen though? I even repaired the installation but the problem now exists everytime I try to install my mouse program.
If I unplug the mouse, what difference will it make if it is the driver that is causing the problem?
Thanks for the help.
