URL's in threads won't work in XP Pro..

This is a discussion about URL's in threads won't work in XP Pro.. in the Windows Software category; I need help. If I click on a link in a post or thread nothing happens. I don't get forwarded to the corresponding site. In order to get to the site I have to open another browser and paste the link I want to see in it.

I need help.

If I click on a link in a post or thread nothing happens. I don't get forwarded to the corresponding site. In order to get to the site I have to open another browser and paste the link I want to see in it. I have tried my settings but I can't see what's changed. Everything was running fine until my wife began surfing, and now all of a sudden I can't get links to work.

Anybody got a suggestion? I'm about to pull my hair out.

Thanks

Well the links in this forum are all set to open in a new window, and I have see where IE has trouble doing this if there is a hung process. You could try killing all instances of IEXPLORE.EXE from the task manager, or just reboot to give it a fresh start.

OP
Finally figured it out.

Somehow the "old" Nostromo Speedpad software made its way onto my machine. Nobody (read: wife and 10 year old daughter) in my house has "any idea" how it got there, but needless to say, things I don't know about won't get on my machine in the future.

Thanks for the suggestion.
