usb 2.0 & 1.1

This is a discussion about usb 2.0 & 1.1 in the Everything New Technology category; ok i am looking at buying a usb 2. 0 drive for my pc to backup onto. I also want to connect it to my laptop which has usb 1. 1! Will the usb 2. 0 device still work on the 1. 1? obviously if it does it will only be at 1.

Usb 2.0 devices should be backward compatible, but check before you buy.

What Tomay was getting at is that most USB2.0 devices will be backwards compatible with USB1.1, but you should make sure with the particular device before you buy it...
