I would like to know the procedure on how to run vdsmsound. For example if I want sound in gabriel knight sins of the fathers (Ist part) then after having installed vdsmsound on xp should i run it directly. I tried running gk on both xp and nt 4.0 SP5. During installation of gabriel knight I am asked to select my audio card and music card. In XP, the game detects my soundcard as sb/adlib compatible. (Not in win NT 4.0 SP5, infact it does not run at all in NT 4.0)
However, the only sound I get is when is the engine sound whenever I drive to any of the destinations in the game. No music! or anything else whatsoever. So how come can I use vdsmsound to provide me sound in gk or any other old game.

P.S. When I tried to run the game under the option PC Internal Speaker, it does not run at all. Why is it so.

Please note that I have NOT installed vdsmsound as yet. But I want to know whether I would still have to install the game by selecting my soundcard (The reason I ask is the game detects my soundcard as sb/adlib compatible, sb/adlib substitute, sb pro, windows sound system so I cannot understand which one to choose. My soundcard is creative audio PCI 64V.
