Hey,
I have a question regarding the via 4in1's. I recently switched to XP Pro and in order to fix some minor chipset issues I installed the 4.34-4.36. I could now play my OpenGL games without a problem. This came at a cost though....My cd drives were being recognized as SCSI when they should be ATAPI/IDE. My DVD Drive (Pioneer 106S) and my Burner (LiteOn 12101B) only read and transfer data when they are recognized as SCSI...I can't play dvd's or burn cd's. A quick fix for this is to Uninstall and Reboot, only then can i watch a dvd or burn a cd. As of right now, I am running the via drivers that came with XP...the last time I uninstalled the via drivers, I had to reformat cuz it resulted in multiple BSOD's. I was wondering if anyone has also suffered this problem and/or if the new 4in1's (the 4.37's) addres this issue or whether I should stick to the XP Via drivers.
Thanks for any input...
My specs (if needed):
Athlon 650
Epox 7KXA
512MB Crucial CL2 PC133
Pioneer 106S (dvd)
LiteOn 12101B (burner)
Phillips PSC703 (sound card)
VisionTek GTS 32MB (non-OC)
Win XP Pro.

I have a VIA based motherboard, while haven't encountered your problem, in my opinion I hate VIA now. After I am done with this board I am getting one on a new chipset. Right now I have things running fairly smooth. After I installed the 4.37 I had REALLY slow disk access CD and Hard Disk, and DMA was enabled. My AGP graphics was slow too as I dropped about 10 FPS in Q3. I reverted back to XP's default and all is well again. The thing is that I installed that PCI Latency Patch at VIAHardware.com and it fixed my laggy graphics with the AGP, SB Live is running is really nice. Try the patch it is supposed to fix a whole bunch of IDE/Sound issues.
