Future games (Doom 3, Quake 4) will most likely need a better card to run at high resolutions, with details turned on... If you're comfortable with those turned down, it should be fine.
You could get a Radeon 8500 for cheap or a GeForce4 Ti4200, should be good for some future games but more importantly good for today's games, with such improvements in technology it doesn't matter what you buy today.
well
are your games lagging now? of not don't worry about it. a 64mb card can still do a good job.
Also, if you can wait till Jan of next year, there will be a few new cards likely coming out before X-mas which will drop the price of all the 128mb cards now to an affordable price ($100 - $200 range) (the GOOD 128mb cards)
