Having decided to install W2k Professional I was suprised to see that after installing none of my hardware settings will save after a reboot/shutdown. If I try changing mys screen res, or install printer drivers etc. they are all lost after W2K is restarted.

All I can think of is a hardware conflict.
The only malfunctioning hardware device in the device manager is my Videologic DVD decoder card, but I have the W2K drivers which are supposed to make it work. However I have the same problem of the driver disappearing after reboot.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Special thanks go to Microsoft for producing another such intuitive and easy to problem sovle product.

Specs please!

To check for a conflict, just look in device manager.

Did you hit APPLY at all?

Got the latest drivers? For everything?

Try taking out your DVD Decoding card and see if everything else works fine.

i don't have a solution, but a hint. perhaps it'll help you. i had the same problem on my old machine with windows nt 4.0 ws, when i logged on as a user, etc. only my admin-access saved it's data correctly... i never found out what it was, but to me it looks similar to your problem. have you tried each access?
let me know plz...
