W2K SP2 will not recognize full capacity of 20GB Maxtor

This is a discussion about W2K SP2 will not recognize full capacity of 20GB Maxtor in the Windows Hardware category; Windows 2000 will only recognize the first 8GB of my Maxtor DiamondMax Plus. However it will recognize the full capacity of my 80GB Western Digital. Windows ME and Windows XP both recognize my Maxtor as 20GB and my BIOS does too, the drive has the Auto setting configured in BIOS.

If I format the drive in ME and then boot to 2K it insists it is a 8 GB non-formatted drive. If I boot back into ME I can use the whole 20GB without a problem.
