Warlords: Battlecry blue screen of death

This is a discussion about Warlords: Battlecry blue screen of death in the Windows Games category; I've just re-installed XP Pro, have not yet installed any service packs (and never have before, with no problems)but have installed several of the security updates that pertain to my system. Seeing as this game is (I think) older than sp1, that shouldn't really be an issue.

I've just re-installed XP Pro, have not yet installed any service packs (and never have before, with no problems)but have installed several of the security updates that pertain to my system. Seeing as this game is (I think) older than sp1, that shouldn't really be an issue. Every time I try to launch Warlords: Battlecry, I get the blue screen of death and am forced to reboot. I have installed the 1.01 atch for the game, but have not installed any of the beta patches.

I am running Windows XP Pro, AMD 1.0 ghz, 512mb RAM, plenty of drive space, GeForce 4 video card, SoundBlaster Live! Platinum, DirectX 9.0c

I also have not tried checking the option during the game's install to install the older version of directx, but I don't see a nbeed to.

Any ideas?
