WELL I'M MAD I JUST INSTALLED FF7 UNDER WINDOWS XP AND YES IT CRASHES TO THE CHOCOBO RACES What I do not understand though is that The Bike race at the beginning are using basically the same type of interface.

you are right Hopefully I kept 3 gigabytes to install windows Misery Edition, so I can pass this quest.
but under win2k itself, it jammed at the sub marine quest ... the chocobo races were just fine.
