Alrighty, here is my problem.
I have a small network set up in my apartment.
Linksys Cable/DSL Router
port1: Windows 2000 Server
port2: RedHat Linux
port3: Windows 98 SE
port4: Windows ME
(the 98 and ME machines are my roommates)
------------------------------------------
(On the Windows 2000 machine)
When I double click on "My Network Places" and then double click "Computers Near Me" I get this Error:
--
<Workgroup is Not Accesible>
The Account is not authorized to log in from this station.
--
WTF?
but i can browse the other windows machines via "\\10.1.5.10"
Why am I unable to view machines in my workgroup and why does my computer not show up in the other machines "Network Neighborhood"?
Any Clues? Is there a Service that i need to have running for this to work properly?
Also does the fact that i have Samba Running on my Linux Box have anything to do with it?
thanks

Is SAMBA setup to run as Browse Master? Are you running a regular workgroup, or a domain? What protocol(s) are you using (anything other than TCP/IP)? Can the Win2K box use shares on the server? Is the Win2K box configured to logon to the same workgroup? Has this network ever worked properly with these machines?
OP
All machines are configured to be on the same workgroup.
NO domain, just a workgroup.
Samba on the Linux Box is NOT configured to be the Master Browser.
no other protocols other than TCP/IP

OK, back again. Do you have NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled? APK is right, you would need NetBIOS in some fashion to get your Win2K box to query and be shown in the browse listing to (I was assuming that you did, but you might not).
