for the partion, i am going to do with fdisk.
where c drive and e drive would be about 8.5 gb formatted with FAT32, and
having winme on c drive.
e drive is used to store mp3s and stuff.
and D drive, where will be the largest partion, will consist of about 25gb
space.
and will be formatted with NTFS system, since i primary uses only win2k pro,
and rarly use winme. so i want to get the best out of it. now what
allocation size should i format to?
and how do i do it ?
i am going to format the NTFS partion in the setup of win2k, and are there
anyways to do it there?
or what ways can i do it so that i can format my drive with a specific
allocation size?
thanks.

Yes, you can format your drive as one big hard drive as NTFS. There are 2 ways to go about having one partition: one is use a formatting utility like Maxtors MaxBlast (I love it anyway) or FDISK it. Then boot off the Win2k CD. There will be a point where it will ask you if you want to format your hard drive to a format or leave it the same, among the formats is NTFS. If you plan on doing a dual boot in the future, however, its best to leave the hard drive as FAT32 because Win9x cant read NTFS. And it may cause some booting problems.
You shouldnt have any problems. Once you do format the hard drive, you'll be rebooted, just make sure to hit any key to boot off the cd and then follow installation procedure, skipping the formating this time.

NTFS does not cause booting problems. If there is a problem and the system cannot reboot, then you have to use a utility to boot up the machine and be able to read files off of the hard drive. That's all. FAT32 is fine for the home user, but if you need security and a greater level of file integrity, then use NTFS.
