What is distributed.net ?

I read about it in some posts about hard-crashes with NVidia drivers and Win2k, but don't know what it is. And how to disable it if I can. Thanx.

Check out www.distributed.net for all the information you need. In short, it is a downloaded client that you set up and run in the background to attempt to find a key that will unlock a message that is encrypted with a 64bit encryption. If you have not downloaded and setup the program to run than it is not running on your machine.
