Wheel of Time problems

I'm trying to get Wheel of Time to run in WindowsXP. I had it running in an earlier version of Win2K, but at some point it became incompatible due to OS updates, drivers, etc. At this point the game will crash immediately when attempting to run the WOT.

At this point the game will crash immediately when attempting to run the WOT.exe file. I've tryed starting it in Safe mode, but that doesn't work. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone have a solution? It is really a good game and I want to play and finally finish it.

Thanks.

If you are still looking for a solution to this, here is my two cents. I had a similar problem under W2K with this game. After doing some research I tracked it down to the copy protection scheme used on the CD. I had to download a "cracked" version of the wot.exe in order to play it (from GameCopyWorld). I don't feel bad about this since I do own a legal copy of the game and this corrected my problem. The game works great. I also believe you need the latest patches applied. Hope this helps.

Oh, one other tip - if this does correct your problem and the game starts working you may want to copy the "movies" folder from the CD to the hard drive since this was the only way they would work for me.
