people are saying RC1 slipped to the week of the 25th though i can't find any info to prove or disprove this.

Yeah, it slipped one week. I've heard Wednesday (6/27) as the actual release day. But you may want to look for it this weekend. Microsoft often released major beta releases and service packs over the weekend.
