I have Whistler Beta 1 that I got from a site, I DLed all of the .RAR files and extracted them. After extracteion, I was left with a .ISO file , there were also 2 others files that were DLed that didnt' extract into anything, they were a .NFO file and a .SFV file , so now I have a .ISO , .SFV , and a .NFO file, what do I do with these 3 files? When I open the .SFV file with Notepad, it gives me a list of all of the .R00-.R23 files, when I double click on the .NFO file(which has a symbol of the 'My Computer' symbol on the desktop) it gives me all of my current Win2000 system information. Can someone please help me out with this problem? I am new to this type of thing. I have NeroBurn and CDRWIN , which do I use and what to do next? Thanks in advance for all help and replies.

1. To burn the .ISO use CDrwin and i think its the tools menu you use and there should be a drop-down menu at the top when you get to the tools screen. From there select record and ISO image file. Then you just select the location of the ISO and press burn

2. The .NFO file should be opened in notepad and use the terminal font for best results

3. .SFV files are used to verify the integrity of the RAR files to make sure there are no CRC errors without having to unRAR them

that should be enough help if its not just post a reply and i will take screen shots and post em

What does the .NFO file do? Does it have to be included with the burn to CD? or is it just a info file? Ths .SFV file is just to make sure that the >RAR archive is complete and free of errors, correct? It doesn't have to be burned either does it? Thank you for the help, it is greatly appreciated. I finally get to try a newer version of Whistler than 2256.

People who aren't familiar with w4r3z should not play with them.

I usually buy the software and games that i want or need, but in this case, it isn't possible yet. I will buy Whistler -Windows.Net when it is available, but I would like to get an early start on it, so that when it is finished, I will be familiar with it. There is far too much crap to go through to get warez, just isn't worth my time. I hate all of the pop up windows, voting crap to DL, broken links, files that are incomplete, and online storage sites with very slow DL speeds. I rather just buy the software or game and be done with it, besides, buying software that you use gives the companies that design the software the money to develop more software. Movies and Music on the other hand, I will DL all day. The profit that is made off of music CD's and movies is beyond belief, so I don't mind robbing the music and film industry, they are all over paid anyway. The only people that suffer are the actual musicians, but they are being robbed by the record companies, not by me DLing their music. If I do really like a band, I will buy their CD, but in most cases, I do not like to spend $15 for 1 or 2 songs that I like.

.NFO files are usually just general info files about the program or whatever you downloaded. Its also a way of groups and people to keep track of where the file has been.

Well I don't mind helping out a bit because I agree with you on whistler. You best bet is to go to www.isonews.com and then their files section. Download the diz/nfo viewer so you will be able to open the .nfo file(s) without problems. When you unrar the Whistler files you will be left with a .bin and a .cue file or one .iso file. Goto http://www.fireburner.com/downloads.shtml and download the fireburner v1.06 trial version (not limited in any way). Fireburner is a small burning program that will ***ociate the .cue file and .iso files to it. Run fireburner.exe and then close the program. Next go to the folder with the Whistler image file and double click on the .cue or .iso (which ever you have). This will open fireburner with the image loaded. Right click on the track and select burn/test burn. The rest is pretty easy but feel free to ask if you have any questions.

I thank all of you for your help, Except Down8 who doesn't seem to friendly. I have always found this forum to be a good place for advice with many friendly people. I was able to burn the .ISO to CD with CDRWIN and great help from THC129. I am new and unfamiliar with the ***** and pirate software files and do not by any means make a habit of it, as I said in a previous post, I prefer to buy the software and games that I want or need. As it turns out, the version of Whistler that I wasted my time Dling and burning does not work, just stops at the install screen in Win2K and when booting from the CD, I get no further than -System is inspecting your computers hardware configuration.... Disk I/O error: Status =00001000 NTDETECT FAILED Another reason that I do not like or trust *****. So unless I can find a RELIABLE source to get another copy of Whistler Beta 1 , I guess that I will have to wait for it to be released and buy it. If anyone could email me with and helpful info, I would greatly appreciate it. Again, Thanks for all of the help that I recieved.

yeah, Down8 hasn't been friendly lately, he likes to bring up the past again...therefore, just making a fool out of me again with the OLD OLD posting I made awhile back. Now, I don't know if he is trying this Down8 vs. jdulmage thing where as we try to see which of us is the meanest or something, I haven't talked to him about that. Don't think anything of it....it's called prickodiuous a$$holoitis. I have it alot, seems like I have it more everytime I come to this place.

I'm sorry if I actually upset you, Bleeker50. I should have just ignored the post, but I'm an comedian [that's what the teachers always said ]. I just feel that the only justification of w4r3z is that you have to work for them, so posting for the answer is like cheating, to me. My posts were meant only as comic relief, I don't care if you have Whistler or not, if you've got it, good for you. I never meant to pi55 off JDul, or Bleeker, only that STiSev dork . That being said, I've been stressed lately, so I may be picking at people more that I normally would.

Have a nice day, seriously,

I advocate vvarez especially apps and games. Im kinda lenient when it comes to shareware because i mean if its joebobjim by himself making a good program i might actually kind feel bad before i crack it. I program so i know people will steal my stuff. The point is that if you don't want people stealing your stuff that badly then make better protection.

I read this post and then i tried to think of a peice of software that i actualy own and all that i could come up with was win98 cause it came with my dell and audiocatalyst cause it was $20 and i did not want to bother findinga war3z version.
The thing is i plan to buy software when and if i can afford it, but i am a stoner and i would much rather buy kind buds than software and i think that the stuff that i steal is to good for me not to enjoy it. and to beeker50 not all ***** involes the type of downloading that you describe. It sounds to me like you have never encountered a good ftp sever. When i was in college i used to smoke pot and trade ftp links all day. When you have access to tons of ftp severs you can dl trouble free war3z and actually find stuff that you want. Anyway i think i have rambled enough. My point is that for me war3z is my only option (unless i want to use win98 and a bunch of shareware)

see us stoners never change. We are a generation reborn every decade. You can only hope to contain us stoners before we take over the world (or just give us a bong and some good kind buds).

No real offense taken Down8. I have never had any luck with ***** sites or a good ftp server. I suppose that if I had a good, fast, relaible source to get apps and games I would-for some of the games and apps that I would just like to try out to see if I like- But any software or game that I really like or want, I always buy. There are quite a few games that i would like to get off of a ***** or ftp, but I don't really know of any good sites to go to. If anyone could drop me an email of some good sites, I would greatly appreciate it. I was finally able to get Whistler Beta 1, Thanks to everyone that helped out.

silly people. Beeker50, pirate software distribution is not limited to crap sites found in those lame top50 lists. You don't have to be well connected to be able to get stuff. There are lots of alternate sources like newsgroups or IRC.
