why am I getting flickering during Midtown Madness 2

This is a discussion about why am I getting flickering during Midtown Madness 2 in the Windows Games category; I have a new gforce4 Albatron 4200ti with 128 mg. My mad onion scores are on par with the new card, the test runs flawlessly. I just installed Midtown Madness 2 and when the game starts, the whole screen is flickering.

Yeeehaw!

To get MM2 sorted out you need to install the Midtown Madness 2 XP Compatibility Patch, which sorts out a lot of issues with the Gefrog x cards. Without this patch all you get are a ton of teared polygons ingame which is scary stuff lol. Hmm ms's site is a tad slow for me atm, so check out MM2 Central http://www.mm2c.com/files/downloads/

When you say flickering, do you mean:

The screen appears to be turning on and off rapidly

or

Everyting seems to be shifted in unmatches thin horizontal lines

or

The sky has rainbow colored flickering trianguls

?

If the latter, check for the latest video card drivers, game updates, relevant W2K updates, and if all else fails try turning off pedestrians.

If the middle one, try lowering game resolution and/or monitor refresh rates.
