Why xp doesn't like my Athlon?
This is a discussion about Why xp doesn't like my Athlon? in the Windows Hardware category; I can't install WinXP. Installation always stops to screen setup is inspecting your hardware configuration and jams. I've also tried to update my current WinMillenium, but the result is still same. I got same problem with every NT based OS such win2k, I cant install 'em either.
I can't install WinXP. Installation always stops to screen "setup is inspecting your hardware configuration" and jams. I've also tried to update my current WinMillenium, but the result is still same. I got same problem with every NT based OS such win2k, I cant install 'em either. I tried with my friends athlon processor and installation went fine! So I think the problem is my processor. Im asking a solution to my problem, is some file that jams computer and can I remove it? Please, help me!

Yo wildcock, how about you tell us how your system looks like (inside out), maybe then we can help you better...mobo type and BIOS version too...

athlon slot a 500mhz, 384mb mem, asus k7m, bios vesion 627.10 (I've tried with other version too -> doesn't help), ibm 20g, pioneer cd/dvd, samsung 8x cd-rw, voodoo 3 2000.
