Win xp calling home

This is a discussion about Win xp calling home in the Windows Software category; Ok here is my problem, win xp connects to the internet on its own some times. I've disabled remote access and auto up, I dont have a virus either(just did scan with norton 2002 with all current updates and no viruses) I have it on a dialup connection that connects at 28.

Ok here is my problem, win xp connects to the internet on its own some times. Disable Auto-Redial.

Do you have the box set to sync it's time? While one of my boxes was starting up, my sniffer picked up that it was trying to use UDP port 123 to connect to time.microsoft.com (or another time box.) Turned of the time sync and no more occurences on the sniffer.
 
Perhaps that is what's happening to you.
