Win2k command line options to disable memory check???

With Win98 and Me you could use /im as a command line switch to force it to install even if there was less ram than required. Is there a similar switch for Win2k? BTW, if this is already out there I did try a search, but had no desire to filter through 9000 matches.

Thanks, DosFreak.

INSTALL WINDOWS 2000/XP ON A MACHINE WITH LESS THAN 64MB MEMORY
Edit the file TXTSETUP.SIF located in I386.
Search for RequiredMemory
Change this to 0.
Save the file
Now install Windows 2000/XP!
*This only works with the DOS installation using winnt.exe

No problem, but I can't take credit... I was slipstreaming all my Windows 2000 builds last weekend, and remembered seeing that.

OP
I changed it to 0 and setup is still telling me that I do not have enough memory to install, but instead of it saying I need 64 megs it says I need 0.

Are you trying to install from within Windows or are you booting from the CD?

Odd, very odd....

Try changing it to a memory amount to just smaller than the amount of phsyical memory in your computer.

The last time I actually changed this was back in RC1 of 2000 so they may have changed something...or I could just be getting old.

Great to hear that, something worthwhile to save, should the need ever arise to install 2k/xp on an older machine. Thanks for the update.
