Win2k error when trying to start cs

An error log is being generated. I have directx 8 and sp2 installed. first thing is first how did you install cs? did you install hl ten download cs , or what, but make sure you got the update patch for hl

Try to run Half life under another compatibility mode.
Right click on the Hl.exe, Choose compatibility, select either win98 or NT sp3.

that's odd did you install the HL update? then did you install the full counterstrike 1.1 ?
